Conquering the snows of valhalla and HARD ROCK HELL-TOUR BLOG!

Hey! the last five days have been a great adventure in the history of Die So Fluid. Talk about battling against the elements, I mean, I know it's our ethos to overcome and excel whatever's thrown in our path but who would've thought we'd schedule this trip so perfectly for the arrival of heavy snowfall and below zero temperatures. As usual we remained undeterred and on the whole we had a miraculously trouble free time on the road. We were unable to make it to Brighton which was hit pretty bad, but all other gigs went ahead and were made all the more buzzy by the fact that you guys turned up too despite extreme weather conditions! Thanks to you all and our amazing crew who looked after us incredibly.
Thanks for the drawings, presents and cards, and general FUN and hilarity! Our appearance at Hard Rock Hell IV I can only describe as a thrill for us. It was totally like the Anvil film whe they played Japan. We were on at 3pm, the hall was massive and empty, then in the 5 minutes before we went on it literally filled entirely with 1200-1500 people! We stormed it and there's loads of people talking about it on the HRH forum, I think we made quite an impression! Thnks to Lennie, one of our biggest fans, who brought ingredients and made us a mind blowing curry in his Pontins chalet! We did 3 hours of press after the show and also recorded an acoustic version of Storm for Pheonix radio. Later we got to watch Skid Row, Hardcore Superstar, Airbourne, and even play pirate video games which was awesome.
Thanks to Resist for lending an amp when my fuse blew the other night at MohoLive. Mr Drew was an awesome soldier of rock it has to be said, cos he got a recurrence of shingles on the first day, and our team got him to a hospital for anti viral drugs which caught it in the nick of time. The new t shirt design proved very popular and we'll be adding more gig pics over the next few days, plus some film, so send yours in or post'em online!
This has felt like a very important little tour, and maybe shown a few people what we really do and that we mean serious business. See you all next year and let's watch this shit explode!! :D

Extra, extra!! Virgin Oil

See what I did there?!
What the hell am I talking about? Well the venue of our gig in Helsinki has now been upgraded to the illustrious Virgin Oil Co. which we hear is wonderful, so we're very happy.
Also a gaggle of confirmed German dates have come in so watch for those as they materialise in the live section.
Here's a poster for the updated Brighton gig on Dec 2 preceding our HRH IV appearance, just to make sure you noticed the change of venue. The one we booked before got raided, but now we've got a fancy new location (The HYDRANT) and support from The Rocket Dolls and The Black Gardenias.

Album release TODAY in Germany and N Europe!!

Fireworks abound today, not just to bizarrely celebrate the execution of a bearded catholic trying to blow up king james 1 in England, boy do I like setting fire to things, but cos our album comes out TODAY in Germany Austria Switzerland Holland Belgium Luxembourg France Norway and Sweden!! Yippeee! Thanks to everyone involved in making this happen, we have an ongoing schedule of interviews and reviews and the extremely positive response has us all fired up to get on the road and play it live. Mr Drew and Grog's California G & L factory visit

Mr Drew has arrived safely in sunny California, where he's visiting me to work on material for the next album, and catch up on band business. Here's a pic of us yesterday visiting the G&L guitar factory in Fullerton LA where we were given a personal tour by Dave McLaren and Steve Grom. I've been playing G &L basses for quite some time now and always sing their praises in interviews. In fact we gave away a G&L bass as a prize in Germany for our support band competition.
We hung out in Leo Fender's original office where many of his personal effects, plans, photos and prototypes still remain.
In fact his spirit still lives on there, and employees have reported several eerie goings on! It's easy to imagine why when he designed guitars with such passion, he'd only just finished an early baritone the day he passed away.Notice in the last photo the snap of Leo presenting some extremely happy girls with a shiny pink guitar :D I know that feeling

The PR campaign has just begun in Germany for the release of 'The World Is Too big For One Lifetime' on November 5. Grog's been having lots of fun with her phoner interviews and the band are really happy and excited the album is receiving an exceptionally warm welcome. It is now set to be released in Italy Spain,Portugal,Greece,Israel, Russia & former Soviet satellites between the 10th and 15th of January 2011.
Grog's got herself some new ink, it's her own design symbolic of 'embracing one's mortality',because only then can you really live'. The work was done by Dirt Von Karloff (Society 1) at the Blue Horseshoe in Hollywood. Grog's really looking forward to October when Mr Drew will be visiting her there to further the work they've been doing writing material for the next album.

Creative times

Grog here, with a personal update. As some of you know, I like to engage in other projects that inspire me from time to time, and one of those dearest to my heart right now is ‘The Black And Blue Orkestre’ http://www.myspace.com/theblackandblueorkestre which is a collaboration between the illustrious Tom DiCillo (Johnny Suede,Living In Oblivion, Delerious, When You’re Strange..) and Will Crewdson (Rachel Stamp) You can read all about our writing process in Tom’s latest blog here: http://www.tomdicillo.com/blog/?p=328
We’re excited that our cover of 16 Tons will be played in a podcast tomorrow August 1, as part of an in depth interview Tom did for ‘Today Is Boring’ arts related radio show with emphasis on his latest docu-film on The Doors ‘When You’re Strange’. All details in Tom’s blog above.
Will and I have also been working on a project together called ‘Scant Regard’, in which I write and sing vocals. As the name suggests, it throws rules out the window and is pretty experimental. There’s a possible ep in the works! More on that later..
I regard all this ‘extra curricular’ business as highly important to my creative process, as I get to express ideas and record material which isn’t suitable for Die So Fluid, and all the while develop skills and fresh inspirations to ‘bring on home’. Mr Drew and I are currently developing some exciting new tracks for the next Die So Fluid album whilst our new tour schedule is being constructed for the end of summer onwards.

Sunday 30 May 2010

Ipswich Manor Ballroom was the first of the last run of gigs finishing off this UK tour, a fancy affair of a room with green panels and mirror balls , but alas no stage electricity available for some time on arrival. Matters were made worse/more hilarious when we discovered our dressing room upstairs was next to the social club bingo and Mr drew got most vexed when an old lady told him he couldn't use their toilets and that he should 'tell his friends too' (probably an imagined army of mohawk guitar warriors) Everything came together though and after a plethora of interviews we took to the stage. Milly performed what I have to say was one of the best dives I've ever seen across the stage to hit my tuner right on cue for the first resounding note of Happy Halloween saving the day after my increasingly zealous banter with the sex shop owning hair windmiller and bi sexual admirer who were battling out pole position centre front audience. The folk in Ipswich were a right horny bunch! Very sweet. not sure about the creepy dolls in the kitchen though. and always a thrill to see fans wearing their DSF shirts. Oh yes and on this day I received an e mail offering me a G&L endorsement so i was ecsatic. I've been lusting after a 'real' G&L for ages. Next day my knees were pretty bruised from some of the stage antics i've been doing, and now they're even worse, night after night kneeling at the altar of rock and generally throwing shapes like there's no tomorrow. Margate was a wierd little gig, what is it with seaside towns? I don't think this one was promoted at all. We had a small but passionate audience and I poured my frustration into my performance for the lovely possee who'd seen the gig in Kerrang! During my stay in London I'd bought myself an amazing hat from the fetish shop accross from the hotel. It's called the Boss Grog hat and I used it to full potential the day of the Joiners gig in Southampton hehe. We had an ace interview and photoshoot with the wonderful Devolution magazine. It was also Frazers birthday so we snuck off and all signed a card and got him some posh plonk. Black sonic played a great set at the joiners and I could tell it was gonna be a hot one by the sweat pouring off them when they came off. By the time we played it was absolutely rammed and I shocked everyone by not wearing a catsuit. Feathers and a Boss grog hat are sometimes all you need. Milly became my 'towel-bitch' for the night and i had him come mop my brow mid set. This tour has been quite testing with the PAs and monitors more often than not throwing up problems, and tonight was no exception as someone had wired the monitors the wrong way round and I didn't have any at all for two songs. then it got fixed and suddenly it was deafening. hey ho, that's how it goes sometimes. No one could tell judging by the response.Anyway, what a totally awesome night! Thankyou all cos it was a real high. I had my knees kissed and my bass neck stroked, we really felt the love. Even my sweaty towel was nabbed for me to sign later. later we all sang happy birthday to Frazer and highly embarassed him, lots of us ended up spilling into a club. The last gig of the tour was in Hastings and it was a very emotional show because we all knew it was the end and we wouldn't be seeing any more of Black Sonic. they've been such a pleasure to hang out with and see each day, and always did a fantastic job of warming up the crowds. I will have one or two of their songs running thru my head for some time. We're all looking forward to catching up with them in Lichenstein on July 3 for the festival. One of my brothers came to the gig and gave me Dave Lee Roths autobiography so I'm sorted for entertainment now! While we played our final set the boys were standing to one side of the stage feeding Mr Drew and Al shots throughout the set, Drew got completely wasted it was great. I didn't really need anything cos I had the ladies curse and i 'd taken these wierd acid tablets the doctor gave me which make me feel damn high. Now we're back in London and in the monring we head off to Finland to play Helsinki and Tampere, then Talin in Estonia. I'm looking forward to the next chapter, but we'll miss BS and Milly too and wish we'd smuggled them along in our suitcases.People are starting to see the video on Scuzz now which is really exciting, it should also be on Kerrang tv in the evenings from this week.ps Thanks Stijn and Eliane-Al is stoked with his Dutch So Fluid shirt :D

Take Over Time!

I wanted to add something to Mr Drew's blog because the London show at the Scala was so awesome. Thankyou for making it so special, it was the biggest headline London show we've done so far and will remain in my memory as a landmark gig. From seeing my face adorning the massive poster outside to being shown the Die So Fluid tattoo on Shauna's bum in front of the stage, hehe, standing before several hundred people and feeling the energy in the air, it was such a memorable night, all the more meaningful to me now that I live in the States. There's a great review up already at www.Altsound.com with some ace pics. We had gone up to the Total Rock studios and recorded an interview with them in the afternoon, and done several interviews after soundcheck. We just heard today that we have the front cover of Nocturnal magazine when my interview comes out. Coldchester was indeed a contrast, and I ended up chastising a support act for playing slot machines through our set and carrying out their gear through the audience . It wasn't that they didn't listen, it was that they wanted pictures with me beforehand, and were all 'great set ' at the end. I just can't stand the fakeness.most people know i don't kick off without good reason, it's pretty rare. Anyway, i got an apology.I think it was an astrologically marred day as I also developed a painful mysterious lump in my arm that I was worried could be one of those spider eggs that explodes and lots of tiny ones pour out, and that evening me and mr drew got the joke shower from hell that only squirted water out the sides at intervals. i somehow whacked my head against the wall trying to turn the taps without drenching the whole room. Anyway, the next day the fan belt frayed on the van and we had to drive at a snails pace to Milton Keynes, we arrived nicely par boiled but in one piece as there's no windows that open in the back of the bus! Thanks to our best boys Frazer and Milly for getting us through this manic period unscathed. This is the rock n roll lifestyle, one day it's 'business class flight to Switzerland please, oooo free profiteroles and champagne' and the next it's 'has anyone got a pair of tights we can use as a fan belt?' Milton Keynes was not the best organised gig and ran pretty late, and our fab Dutch Black Bellies friends who flew over to see us in London had also travelled out to MK and were going to miss the show to catch their train. Black Sonic graciously swapped stage times with us to fix the situation,(they rock) and a great crowd materialised StarTrek style.i really enjoyed playing and it was a good end to that particular run of dates. I solved the heat problem by dumping a bottle of water on my head which gave me one panda Kiss eye but it gave everyone a little shower when i shook my head. We showed our appreciation the BS by rockin out to their set and getting them all shots. they took their tops off , it's unfair I can't do that! Next morning we got a replacement fanbelt and headed back to London the record an xfm session. You'll be able to hear four live tracks taken from the new album on Ian Camfields Rock Show. Today it was up fairly early, into gladrags, into taxi straight to the Scuzz tv studio to film our Scuzz TV Takeover! Make sure you catch us playing some favourite vids from the Scuzz archives and introducing Mercury to the Scuzz viewers, me with a particularly husky tone to my voice today :D I wanted to wear my green and black cowboy boots but it was filmed against a green screen and I didn't want to appear as the girl with invisible feet!

Sunday 23 May 2010

Maybe it's because I'm a Londoner that I think London rocks. The wonderful reception we got at the hometown gig probably made up my mind so thank you to all who came, from Amsterdam and Berlin as well as just round the corner. Had a great night on stage and becausee we'd warmed the set up could really get into playing with my two buddies. Next day in Colchester one of the Black Sonic boys commented that after London it was 'Like being drowned in a bucket'. A little harsh - But only a little. Even on the quiet ones there's always a couple of people who turn up and make all the difference. Got mixed feelings about the weather as it's nice apart from being stuck in an airless van and having settled on my bespoke suit style just in time for the summer. Taking a tip from Al i'm keeping the shorts on tonight for Milton keynes.

Wednesday 19 May 2010

First day off on this UK jaunt and you know what that means – laundry. We're in Bristol which seems like the only UK town, so far, that doesn't recognize there's a recession going on - judging by it's shiny sprouting harbour view flats and it's star trek control panel launderettes. I would feel like I was in the city of the future if it weren't for the high street chains blasting out the Bristol sound of the nineties and the prominent Banksies (although they have all been defaced which is all very post post-modern). Shit. Sitting in college square has turned me into a latte drinking social commentator. I better get back in touch with my primal side so I can dish out the brutal riffs tonight at the Fleece. The only thing to ponder now, as I watch the underwear spin, is how Al has made it this far with just two pairs of pants.

Nice warm reception at the show from penguins, skeletons, scientists and hells angels alike. And as much as some of the faces tonight we've seen at many gigs before we're getting extra appreciation for playing a full length headline set for the first time on a UK tour. It's not a bad problem to have when you have too many good songs to choose from and after this tour we're going to have to start squeezing in more from the new album. The Black Sonic boys were led off by an angel to spend the night in a padded cell (rehearsal room). Travelodge suddenly looked like the Ritz.

Monday 17 May 2010

At last I find myself with a spare hour, caffeine in one hand and free wifi –what’s up with travelodge that they feel the need to charge you a zillion quid for a minute of internet! Don't they know their main clientele are bands addicted to social networking sites? ;D Let's reflect over the first few dates of the tour, starting with Eddies in Brum. After managing to not oversleep again we arrived in good time and met our new tour companions Black Sonic who are here from Lichenstein as our special guests for the whole tour. We have also been invited to play a great festival in their home country in July. I don't know very much about the place but if these guys are anything to go by we're gonna have a rocking time! They play a consistently storming set and are winning hearts every night. You are required to learn the words to a Duran Duran song for their set-be prepared. My heart was warmed by our reception at Eddies, we had a great crowd who were so up for it and all the bands and it was a great way to kick things off. We did a couple of interviews which we hope to have links to soon. I’m really touched by all the girls who’ve told me I'm an inspiration to them, it's a totally mindblowing feeling to have this said to you quite openly, and I want to say thankyou because it makes me feel vindicated for all our hardwork, and commitment to doing things my own way.
For this tour we've dug around in dusty corners of our storage space to find a few fairly rare early singles which have been flying off the merch stall. So if you're coming along to one of the gigs be sure to smash the piggybank and nab yourself the complete set before they run out! we were intrigued to meet our new backline tech who was listed in the itinerary as Milly. Milly turned out to be a lovely Yorkshire lad who'd just been teching for Opeth so I was impressed even before I saw his leopard print creepers. (you know i'm an infamous shoe-fancier) With the capable Frazer on sound who we'd worked with at Gorefest we were all set for the road ahead. Next day we continued on to Scarborough, not as big a turn out but the passion of our friends who came made up for it. In the morning we promenaded the seafront and letloose on the arcades. The donkey rides were tempting but the best bit was our visit to Terror Tower where we got to stroll through scenes from horror films whistling a happy tune haha. We passed through Norman Bates Motel, the well from The Ring , Preditor, and Alien Autopsy and skipped through a gaggle of swinging body bags but I only screamed when a bloody big dinasour head came crashing down out of nowhere whilst crossing a wobbly bridge. Came away with some new stage set ideas anyway!Next on the agenda was York Stereo, I donned my hologram catsuit for the gig with a big f**k off belt i bought by the sea with three rows of skull studs. A brilliant momento. I was just in the mood after doing some more interviews and it was a really fun gig. Big love to Maxine for travelling from Newcastle whilst pregnant to see us play, and also the pressies. What an enthusiastic crowd, we were there signing stuff and chatting for a while. I will remember this one as the tourettes gig cos there was one of those wierd silences just before a song and i couldn't resist the urge to shout bollocks. i can't really explain it.someone must've slipped me something in me drink or somethin cos i also recall calling Milly my monitor bitch. Anyway, it was all jolly japes til Ray from black Sonic split his head open on the roof of their van-oouch. It's mending nicely now but i think he must've had a big headache from that, and all the 'medicine' that was supplied afterwards to aid recovery;) I got away with just a split seam in my catsuit. Better repair that before London!
Then we had the colour coordinated black and red Club Revolution in Peterborough followed by Wakefield rock festival this afternoon. I met lots of lovely new fans at both events including Lauren and Carla, and the two Lauras from Milton Keynes. Very windy it was today, and that's just Al, ho ho! It was ace to see Panic Cell, catch up with KOKaine and meet the Glitterati from our new label. During our performance I battled with snot streaming from my nose, hair blowing down my throat and my eyes streaming in the wind, don't think anyone noticed though and again we had our audience there cheering us on and pulled off a spirited show complete with monitor foot posing and back bending. it was a charity event we played for a fee of just ten gallons of Monsta energy drink-woah! in the night the roof had blown off the hospitality marquee (!) so i had to change in the van but they were selling a drink named the 'Die So Fluid', coffee with brandy in it. We hung out there for a bit , went out for an amazing Cuban tapas dinner, and walked around a 13th century abbey in Leeds just to round the day off in a gothic fashion. I must just mention our brand new T shirt which is now available at gigs. It has the sexy new album cover on it and looks coo-el. You can own one for just 15 pounds, or you can buy it with another item for 20! I wanna see all of you at the Scala who said they wanted to come these past few nights- it's gonna be an awesome night and we're looking forward to seeing you all there! I'll get to play my hometown again-yay!

Two Grogs!

Hare v snail

Oh my, I overslept because my alarm didn't go off, and awoke to mr drew calling me from the photoshoot i was supposed to be at. First time that happened to me for years, Paul harries told me apparently i beat Courtney Love in lateness though from a recent shoot with her and that's got to count for something. Gimme credit tho, i got it together grabbed a cab and was there in 30 mins, West London to Oxford st! I wore black angel wings and they sped my journey. it's true. Boy did we get some tasty shots too, flying by the seat of your pants is good sometimes. ....Tomorrow we kick off the beginning of the tour by dropping in on Johnny Doom at Kerrang! radio in Birmingham before the first show at Eddies. Hold on tight!

ch ch ch changes

Hmm seems like we've had a lot of apologising to do lately and here we go again, but in the spirit of keeping you as informed as possible, here's a newsflash concerning the new single. Since we are a very new signing to DR2 they've decided it would be in our best interest to move the release of Mercury back to nearer the album release date, allowing them more promotion time. We will however be giving you a FREE track meanwhile to celebrate the tour and lead up to the official release dates. Check back here to find out which track it will be!

Tourdate ammendment

~Please note the recent change of venue on May 19th from TJs in Newport to The Night Owl in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire. Tragically TJ's owner John Silico passed away unexpectedly two weeks ago, and our thoughts and best wishes go out to his family and friends. The venue is temporarily closed and although they are fighting to re-open as soon as they're able, it's not possible to put a definate date on it. Therefore our manager has had to make an extremely tough decision to make sure this UK tourdate is filled, and avoid disappointment on the night. Our sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused. RIP John Silico.

Our little UK warm up jaunt is over now and I’m back amongst the palm trees doing interviews and preparing for the full UK tour in May. I just want to thank everyone who ventured out to see us and made it such a laugh. Gorefest was very cool, contact lenses and fake blood all over, and it was great to see the Devolution mag gang out in force looking so zombie-glam! It seems I may be presenting an award at the horror awards in Oct as a special guest. I have to thank Lennie for presenting me with all the cds and vinyl from my first band which he heard I had lost when our van was stolen a while back! Now I have replacements and they can take their rightful place amongst my memorabilia. I signed his bass guitar that night too- and hung out in his mates caravan. Those guys know how to travel in style! John (who features in some of our USA Mindless Self Indulgence tour photos on myspace ) travelled all the way from Oklahoma and caught all three shows, making us all choked up and emotional. The last gig in Grimsby was very memorable and I ‘d like to thank our biker friends there for the special brand of hospitality they showed us that night. K O Kaine were their usual lovely and fun selves, and rocked hard to boot. Ad did ace on vocals for someone with a partially collapsed lung (!!) and another band member who shall remain nameless coped pretty well with the show in shock after having accidentally run over someone’s dog on the way to the venue, and been surrounded by dodgy chavs. I got a big easter egg too so that's a surprize AND chocolate!
On a sad note, the untimely death of Pete Steele has shocked and saddened us. We’re all very respectful and fond of Type O Negative, Al particularly as he had the pleasure of touring with them whilst in a previous band. Peter took a shine to his lovely blonde hair or so I’m told.
Peter Steele Rest In Peace.
All that’s left to say is enjoy the new photos uploaded to myspace, and keep an eye out for tour updates and incoming press, get yourself a possee together, we’ll make the flame of rock burn bright in May.

I hereby declare this website open for business!
Mr Drew, Al and I are happy to announce a new chapter of the Die So Fluid journey in conjunction with the label DR2, a part of Demolition/Global Music Ltd.Seems like it's been a long time coming, but we believe in doing a thing right. We’re now officially signed to DR2 and although this has meant a few adjustments to scheduling, we feel Die So Fluid has finally found a deserving home. You know we don’t trust ‘outsiders’ easily, they mess with our toys and try to steal our pocket money, but these guys passed our psychological tests and seem to fit. They have the wherewithal to wrap our ivy-like tentacles of rock around the world and hold it in an enduring embrace. 'What?' we hear you cry... 'We thought you were fiercely independent and didn't need a label?' Well, we still own the copyright to all our music, but the quest has grown and the ship needs steering. We've licensed to labels in the past and ended up with too many reigns to keep a hold of, the flow suffering as a result. Now we need to be free to do what we do best, make the music you want to hear, in the venues you wanna hear it in!
Die so Fluid really is a global concern now, it’s been a very eventful few months. I've fallen in love and relocated to Hollywood. So what better time for the band to join forces with an operation that's set up worldwide. I haven't just run off to bask in the Hollywood sun and schmooze, (well alriiight maybe a bit....) I've been setting up a home studio and writing, and generally having the balls (or female equivalent) to follow my dreams. The three amigos are fired up more than ever and ready to tour, so see you on the road!
Until then you can expect the first video single download release of ‘Mercury’ on May 10th, and the album June 7th.Finally I want to thank Shelley for working his ass off on the new website and artwork, George for takin’ care of business, and you lot for sticking with us through thick, thin and everything inbetween. Dastardly new shipmates DR2 onboard, welcome ye scallywags, anchors away!
